Running the 13.1 mile course from Newcastle to South Shields through Gateshead, Gary completed the Great North Run in an amazing 1 hour 55 minutes and 12 seconds.

Demonstrating AV Dawson's commitment to support and giving back to the communities that it serves, Gary set himself a target of £1,500 for the local charity that esteems itself on tackling a multitude of issues, from apprenticeships to homelessness in our region.

Completely smashing the target, Gary met 206% of the intended £1.5k, raising a monumental £3,095 in total. From generous supporters, friends, family and work colleagues, Gary was able to provide a substantial donation to Middlesbrough & Teesside Philanthropic Foundation, funding their further work within the community.

Gary Dawson said of the challenge: "Having not really run since school and having just turned 45, it was a tough challenge to have set myself. However, in reality, I knew that when compared to the hardship and daily challenges that hundreds of people, and particulary children face in our home town of Middlesbrough, it was no challenge at all.

"It was an amazing event and I couldn't help but be affected by the emotion and stories 57,000 people had to tell. Thank you to everyone that has donated and a special thank you to Clive Owen and Co. and to the Tees and Hartlepool Port Users Association for their generous support."
