Eleanor returns home to AV Dawson Site


The locomotive ‘Eleanor Dawson’ named after co-founder of AV Dawson Limited back in 1938, has returned home to take its place as part of the Automotive Steel Store.

IMG 0620smlPurchased by Chairman, Maurice Dawson, in 1990, the loco was in use by the company until 2010 to shunt goods between the wharf and warehousing for customers coming into Middlesbrough good yard.

After 5 years in storage and a new paint job, Eleanor will return home to the AV Dawson site making her final journey to join Arthur Vernon, the 1950’s locomotive named for the company’s founder and Eleanor’s husband, to round off what has been a highly successful year for AV Dawson.
