Sea and Port Services
AV Dawson’s logistics, shipping and cargo handling operations are based at Dawsons Wharf and North Sea Supply Base sites on the River Tees. We have a total of four berths along a kilometre-long stretch on the south side of the River Tees.
The berths are capable of handling cargo vessels up to 7000 deadweight tonnes, and although each berth is around 120m in length, we can handle vessels of up to 200m LOA. The two berths at the North Sea Supply Base on the River Tees have a dredge depth below LAT of 6.0m, while the two berths at Dawsons Wharf have a dredge depth of 3.2m below LAT, giving a maximum depth alongside of over 10m.
All berths are served by mobile harbour cranes suited to both lifting and grab duties, a 40 tonne capacity Gottwald crane and a 600 tonne pedestal crane, large capacity mobile plant, counter balance forklift trucks and container handlers up to 42te capacity.
