AV Dawson invest for future growth

The arrival on the River Tees of a state of the art Gottwald Harbour Crane on 22nd February is another clear example of the logistics company AV Dawson's confidence in the future of the North East. The €2 million harbour crane complete with a 19m³ grab, which will be the largest on the River, will increase efficiency of discharging certain products by 200%. The crane is ideal for moving products with high volume and low weight, such as grain, and is part of AV Dawson's diversification into the renewables sector. In particular AV Dawson is targeting supply chains.

"While we have a long history of creating efficiencies for our traditional clients, we must also look to the future. As far as port operations are concerned Grain could be the new steel for AV Dawson and through our investment in the Gottwald Harbour Crane we can now offer clients in the bio-fuels and bio-mass supply chains the same efficiencies that our established client base enjoys," said Gary Dawson, managing director of AV Dawson.

Clients will benefit further when AV Dawson completes its next project to deepen the water at Dawson's Wharf, which currently has a dredged depth of 6 metres, in order to accommodate bigger ships, which, again increases efficiency. The four berths owned by AV Dawson are positioned along 1,000 metres of the south side of the River Tees ensuring that it is an ideal distribution point for freight and the proposed new dredged depth of 8.5 metres appeals to a much wider range of industries.

AV Dawson is also the largest independent landowner on Riverside Park and has a strong track record of investing in the future and a reputation of developing innovative solutions to improve customers' logistics helping them to reduce costs and improve efficiency.
